Classical Conditioning in the American Banking System

Late Punishment

Woke up this morning, and checked the mail, as I do every morning. There was an envelope from Chase (I had opened an account with them last month, as my credit card applications were turned down for not having "enough bank accounts"). Thinking that it probably was another "junk mail" advertising one of their brilliant ideas about banking, I opened the envelope emotionlessly.

Google Docs - Readability Level of a Document

While writing an essay today, I wanted to check the wordcount of the paper (under tools>wordcount or Ctrl+Shift+C). Well, there was more to the report than just plain wordcount. On top of comparing the selected part of the text to the whole document, Google Docs, apparently, can also give you the grade level readability index of your work.

This might be handy, you never know when someone will ask you what the Flesch Reading ease of your document :)

Tilt-shift

Photography Tips and Techniques

Tilt Shift

[source: Wikipedia] Tilt-shift photography refers to the use of camera movements on small- and medium-format cameras; it usually requires the use of special lenses.

"Tilt-shift" actually encompasses two different types of movements: rotation of the lensplane relative to the image plane, called tilt, and movement of the lens parallel to the image plane, called shift. Tilt is used to control the orientation of the plane of focus (PoF), and hence the part of an image that appears sharp; it makes use of the Scheimpflug principle. Shift is used to change the line of sight while avoiding the convergence of parallel lines, as when photographing tall buildings.

In many cases, "tilt-shift photography" refers to the use of tilt and a large aperture to achieve a very shallow depth of field.

Here is my experiment with tilt-shifting, of course, using photoshop...
